Educational Tools for Decolonialty and Equity in Global Health
These milestoneswere developed with the input of global health educators from around the globe, in order to guide both educators and learners on their journey toward equity and decoloniality in global health. The intent is to describe stepwise growth of expertise and skill in these domains, so that learners and educators are better able to recognize a learner's current knowledge, skills and attitudes, and identify ways that they might grow. These milestones should not be approached as checklists, but as a journey of transformation towards meaningful change, recognizing that the fourth level (called transformational action) is aspirational for us all. Like many journeys this growth is often not a straight line, and is often uncomfortable. We urge learners to approach these milestones, and their global partnerships, with self-reflection and humility, a deep commitment to personal growth, and a readiness to confront the complexities and contradictions of working towards true decoloniality and equity in global health.
