Establishing a School Wellness Center in Haiti

In 2021, Global Health Nursing Fellow Rose Mintor DNP, RN, NI-BC, CPN provided on-site hearing and vision screening services at L'Ecole de Choix, an underserved elementary school in rural Haiti. With help from Boston Children's Hospital's Department of Audiology, Mintor was able to purchase an audiometer that requires minimal maintenance and calibration for the school. Dr. Mintor worked with the school nurse at L'Ecole de Choix to develop a hearing and vision screening process and held a first-ever T'te-'-T'te session with Choix female graduates. This session provided a platform for frank conversation around health, puberty, and wellness.
