Eva Gómez, MSN, RN, NPD-BC, CPN is Senior Director of the Nursing Career Lattice Program/Patient Care Diversity, Inclusivity, and Professional Advancement for Nursing and Patient Care Services at Boston Children’s Hospital. Previously Eva worked as Senior Professional Development Specialist in the Clinical Education and Informatics Department at Boston Children’s Hospital. She serves in multiple roles including co-leading the Global Health Nursing Fellowship.

Eva is co-chair of Hispanic Outreach, Latinos, Amigos & Allies (HOLA) employee-led group. She is also actively involved with the Boston Children’s Hospital Nursing Cultural Sensitivity and Diversity Forum, the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Council and Hospital Culture Council. She is a member of the Association for Nurses in Professional Development, Society of Pediatric Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau. In 2020 she was appointed as Assistant Director for Inclusion for the Academy for Teaching and Educational Innovation and Scholarship at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Eva is a PhD student at UMass Boston in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Her research interest and dissertation work are focused on organizational health literacy and how organizations can address the health literacy needs of the population.

Dr. Evans a senior associate in perioperative anesthesia and the Director of Global Health Education in the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care & Pain Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital, and an Assistant Professor in Anaesthesia at Harvard Medical School where her specialty is in pediatric anesthesia.  She is the current Chair of the Education committee for the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists and a pediatric editor for Anesthesia Tutorial of the Week.  She serves on the Lifebox, Global Governance Council, the Medical Advisory Board for Smile Train, and is on the Board for the Global Initiative in Children's surgery.   Her efforts currently focus on improving the quality and safety of anesthesia in low- and middle-income settings through education and advocacy. She has been involved with a variety of global educational initiatives and is currently co-leading the PATA (Paediatric Anaesthesia Training in Africa) initiative that is helping to establish 5 new pediatric anesthesia fellowships in Africa.

Geoffrey Guenther, MD, MPH is an Assistant in Pediatrics in the Division of Infectious Diseases and the lead faculty for Infectious Diseases education in the Margaret C. Ryan Global Health Program at Boston Children's Hospital, as well as an Instructor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He collaborates closely with researchers at the Blantyre Malaria Project and Kamuzu University of Health Sciences in Blantyre, Malawi. His current research projects focus on tackling child health challenges in resource-limited settings in Malawi: improving the application of malaria rapid diagnostic tests and developing an algorithmic outpatient approach to children with fever in malaria-endemic communities. Dr. Guenther is also the recipient of several teaching awards and has launched numerous educational initiatives at Boston Children's Hospital, most recently collaborating on an Infectious Diseases curriculum for Pediatrics trainees at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Monrovia, Liberia.

Hesham Hamoda, MD, MPH is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Boston Children’s Hospital and an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School. He is the Co-Director of Global Child and Family Mental Health for the Global Health Program. He has designed global mental health programs grounded in collaborative care that would hopefully prove innovative, scalable, and impactful.  Over the last 10 years he has developed a school mental health program for the World Health Organization that has been implemented in several countries and trained 2200 master trainees from over 650 schools. He has also worked on a mapping project for child, adolescent and maternal mental health services in the Eastern Mediterranean region. Dr. Hamoda completed his Psychiatry training at the Harvard South Shore Program followed by a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. He also holds a master degree in Public Health from the Harvard Chan School of Public Health in Global Health.

John G. Meara, MD, DMD, MBA is the founder and Director Emeritus of the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change (PGSSC) in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine, Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery, and the Boston Children's Hospital Professor of Surgery in the Field of Pediatric Plastic Surgery at Harvard Medical School.  Dr. Meara serves as the Plastic Surgeon-in-Chief of the Department of Plastic & Oral Surgery and the Chair of the Medical Staff Executive Committee at Boston Children's Hospital.  He was Co-Chair of the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery, was a commissioner on the Lancet Global Health Commission on High-Quality Health Systems in the SDG Era, the Lancet Oncology Commission, and the Lancet Commission on Diagnostics.  In 2008, he created the PGSSC and the Paul Farmer Global Surgery Fellowship program at Harvard Medical School. Its purpose is to strengthen global surgical systems through a combination of research, advocacy, and implementation science and train leaders who will further promote surgical care, education, and research pertinent to global surgery. His clinical interests and innovation activities are in the areas of craniofacial anomalies and cleft lip and palate.  He is also particularly interested in augmenting the delivery of quality surgical and anesthesia care in low-resource settings through long-term capacity building. He is also interested in value-based health care and implementation science research, including activity-based cost and outcomes research.  Dr. Meara has led several ICHOM projects focusing on outcomes reporting and international benchmarking.

Dr. Rubin-Smith is Global Health Program faculty and Director of the GHP's Indigenous Health Program. She earned her MSPH in Population and International Health (now Global Health and Population) at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in 2007, and worked on a number of child-centered public health projects in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and South America before returning to school to obtain her MD. During medical school at The Medical School for International Health and Pediatrics residency at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Rubin-Smith continued to work on public health-focused projects in east Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East, in addition to working with underserved populations in the US, including Indigenous and refugee communities. She served with Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders) in West Africa before joining the faculty at Boston Children's in 2020. She works clinically in the pediatric Emergency Department at South Shore Hospital, a BCH community network ED, and spends several weeks per year onsite at our Indian Health Service collaborative sites in North and South Dakota providing care for children in the primary care clinic and the hospital wards. Her primary professional interests are health justice and improving access to quality care in historically underserved and emergency settings; applied research and evidence-based community advocacy; and health systems innovation, specifically at the intersection of public health, technology/design and clinical medicine.

Kayla Mehjabin Parr, PhD is an attending psychologist at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH), instructor at Harvard Medical School, and Mental Health Fellow in the BCH Global Health Program. Her global health work focuses on promoting the wellbeing of forcibly displaced youth, families, and communities in school settings; building the capacity of educators to address the mental health needs of forcibly displaced youth; and, designing trauma-informed and culturally attuned school-based programming in global contexts. Her clinical, research, and teaching interests have focused on reducing health inequities and increasing access to care for youth of color and forcibly displaced youth; implementing healing centered and culturally attuned prevention and intervention programs; and, providing systems-level consultation and program development in schools and primary care settings. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital’s Trauma and Community Resilience Center and Children’s Hospital Primary Care Center, with a specialization in providing Trauma Systems Therapy for Refugees. She earned her Ph.D. from the School Psychology program at Teachers College and completed her predoctoral clinical internship at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, with a specialization in Integrated Behavioral Health in primary care. She was previously a Leadership in Neurodevelopmental and Disabilities fellow and Student/Early Career Leader on the National Association for School Psychologists’ Multicultural Affairs Committee. Prior to her graduate training, Kayla was an educator in Boston and New York City public schools. As an undergraduate, she studied International Studies, with specializations in Ethics and Social Justice and Islamic Civilizations and Societies.

Kenneth Macneal, MD, DTM&H is faculty in the Indigenous Health Program at Boston Children's Hospital.  After completing training in internal medicine and pediatrics, he worked as a hospitalist while completing the Gorgas Course in tropical medicine.  He joined the BCH Indigenous Health team in 2023 where his clinical time is spent serving the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa in Belcourt, North Dakota.  He is also active in supporting the Liberia pediatrics department and residency program.

Kim Wilson, MD, MPH is a general pediatrician at Boston Children's Hospital and Assistant Professor in Pediatrics and in Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School.  Dr. Wilson's work focuses on strategies to improve access to quality health care for underserved populations domestically and internationally.  In Boston, Dr. Wilson works clinically in primary care for an underserved community and has implemented programs to improve quality of health care for children with medical, developmental and social complexity.  Dr. Wilson's global work began with a focus on improving the quality of newborn care, then transitioned to programs integrating services for health, nutrition and early childhood development.  She has partnered with organizations in Rwanda, mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar to implement programs aimed to improve ECD outcomes.  Dr. Wilson has also supported medical education in a global health context as a leader in the Human Resources for Health Program in Rwanda, as visiting faculty at the University for Global Health Equity in Rwanda, and as the founder and co-director the Global Pediatric Fellowship Program at Boston Children's Hospital.

Dr. Lara Antkowiak is a primary care pediatrician at Boston Children’s Hospital, director of primary care for the Global Health Program Indigenous Health Program and instructor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School.  She received her Master’s in Education at Harvard University and worked as teacher and assistant principal before going on to earn her MD at the University of Massachusetts T.H. Chan Medical School and complete pediatric training at the Boston Combined Residency Program.  During residency, she collaborated with global health colleagues in Bolivia to investigate the health of commercial sex workers and their children.  She became a David N Pincus Global Health fellow at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she worked as a pediatrician in the Dominican Republic and partnered with La Leche League international to educate and empower community health workers and increase the prevalence of breastfeeding.  Dr. Antkowiak returned to Boston Children’s Hospital as an attending at Martha Eliot, a primary care clinic serving an under-resourced community of local and newly arrived immigrant families in Boston.  She is active in teaching, designing pediatric resident education on immigrant health and trauma-informed care.  In her role as primary care lead for the Global Health Program’s Indigenous Health Program, Dr. Antkowiak supports the growth and development of pediatric primary care at partner sites in the Great Plains Indian Health Service and works onsite at the Cheyenne River Health Center in South Dakota. Her primary professional interests include the collaboration between schools and primary care, promoting joyful teaching and learning for children and families, and empowering underserved communities to improve the health of children through education and partnership.

Jane Hopkins-Walsh PhD, PNP-BC, RN is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Boston Children’s Hospital where she is accompanying second and even third generation of families in their primary care journeys. She is a bilingual (English/Spanish) global health migration scholar conducting qualitative research in humanitarian shelters with im/migrant and asylum-seeking families at borderlands and in receiving communities in the US, Canada and Mexico. She is also a postdoctoral fellow at Laval University in Quebec. With a special interest in the intersection of health, wellness, and migration in emerging adults, she draws upon guiding philosophies of justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, community alliances, abolition, mutual-aid, and antiracism for global health research and best practice. Jane has over 15 years of global health leadership, collaborations, community-based research, capacity strengthening, and direct care work in urban and rural Honduras. Jane is inspired by arts-based practices and critical posthumanism for nursing care of all people and respect for all matter on a dying planet.

Jessica Sexton is a pediatric emergency nurse. She is the network clinical coordinator at Boston Children's Hospital and a first-year nursing global health fellow. She has a BS in Biotechnology in addition to her BSN and a comprehensive MSN with a concentration in quality improvement. Jessica is enrolled in the Nursing PhD program at Boston College, with a focus on the role of pediatric nurses during preventable adverse event disclosure. Jessica has participated in providing nurse education in Haiti and Mexico and has a research and practice interest in developing pediatric nursing education programs in community and LMIC settings.

Kathryn Barrandon received her Masters in Public Health from Boston University with a concentration in Global Health. She subsequently worked as the Community Health Education Coordinator with the American Refugee Committee in refugee camps on the Thai Burmese border. After returning to the US, she received her nursing degree from MGH Institute of Health Professions, with the goal of combining her skills in program development with hands-on clinical expertise. During her fellowship, Barrandon worked to improve the health and wellness of vulnerable adolescents and youth in rural Rwanda at a partner site at Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village, a boarding school that provides education, basic health care, and safety and security. Barrandon worked with another fellow, Michele Morin, to develop and implement a training program and implementation package for school nurses.

Kimberly Shepherd contributed to the development of an accredited Pediatric Oncology Nursing Specialist Program during her Nursing Fellowship. This program, created in response to the high childhood cancer mortality rates in low- and middle-income countries, was developed in alignment with the 2019 WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer (GICC) priorities. Collaborating with physician and nurse leaders from Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives, and international experts, Kimberly helped design a blended curriculum of remote and in-person teaching. The one-year program features theory blocks and clinical practicums, and has seen impressive results, with high student satisfaction and successful assessments. The initiative aligns with the WHO GICC goal to expand capacity and enhance childhood cancer care, preparing nurses to lead and advance pediatric oncology practices within their institutions.

Dr. Lehmann attended Harvard College and received her MD from Duke University Medical School, where, after finishing a pediatric residency, she spent a year as chief resident. She completed a pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship at DFCI/Children's Hospital Boston and subsequently joined the faculty. Currently, she is an Associate professor in the Division of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation at Dana Farber Cancer Institute/Boston Children’s Hospital and the Associate Program Director for Education/Training and Quality. She has a long-standing interest in global health and has worked to develop pediatric oncology programs in Baghdad, Mexico and Rwanda. She has worked with Children’s Cancer Hospital of Egypt to develop a pediatric oncology fellowship training program which has graduated over 30 fellows. She is currently collaborating with the Abu Dhabi Stem Cell institute to build their pediatric stem cell transplant capacity and to enable delivery of cellular and gene therapy.  

Michael Felber, RN, began his career as a public school teacher for 14 years before transitioning into nursing. Michael then worked on an inpatient adolescent mental health unit before transitioning to inpatient medical/surgical nursing at Barbara Bush Children's Hospital and Shriner's Burn Hospital. After joining BCH, Michael gained experience as a staff nurse on a surgical unit, in the emergency department and in the float pool. Michael has extensive global health experience in Colombia, Haiti, Cuba, Honduras, Guatemala, Ghana, and Zambia. During his fellowship, Michael worked to support nursing training in management of orthopedic surgical care in Colombia with local partners. Subsequent to his fellowship, Michael has worked extensively to support the health and well being of migrant and refugee children and their families along the US-Mexico border in partnership with a NGO, Global Response Medicine, in Reynosa, Mexico.

Prior to Michelle's nursing career she was a paralegal before venturing into the medical world. Michelle graduated from Mercer University in Atlanta in 2010. She then worked at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta before moving to Boston and embarking on her new position at Boston Children's Hospital in 2013 as a staff nurse. Michelle attained her MSN at Northeastern University and graduated in 2018 as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She currently works in Plastic and Oral Surgery. Michelle chose to work with the pediatric population to be their advocate. To further her efforts she chose to pursue the fellowship in Global Health to share advancements in healthcare among the pediatric population. With the fast pace changes in the world, catalyzed by factors such as war and climate change, Michelle will be focusing on learning what the needs are among the refugee population.

Throughout her career, Nadeen has been dedicated to improving the clinical care of underserved and marginalized populations globally, in collaboration with grassroots organizations and humanitarian agencies. She obtained a MSc in Global Health in Dublin, Ireland and was actively involved in educational programs and curriculum development at the Trinity Center for Global Health in Dublin, Ireland. She also engaged in research focused on strengthening health systems and expanding human resources for health in humanitarian emergencies. She has since moved back to Boston where she continues to collaborate with the Trinity Center for Global Health in Ireland as adjunct staff in addition to her ongoing educational and clinical activities at the Global Health Program at Children’s Hospital Boston.

Dr. Natasha Archer is a Physician at Dana Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School. She is also the director of the sickle cell disease program at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Archer’s work focuses on brain and pain complications associated with sickle cell disease. As one of the initial members of INHERENT, an international network of hemoglobinopathy focused researchers, she has helped lead the initial pilot study aimed to study genetic modifiers of sickle cell disease complications, like stroke and pain. She has also led retrospective clinical studies at Boston Children’s Hospital to optimize the management of acute pain in our patients with sickle cell disease and is currently co-leading an oral ketamine and a buccal buprenorphine safety and feasibility study for acute pain in patients with sickle cell disease.  She mentors trainee interested in hematology and global health and assists in the creation of diagnosis and management guidelines for individuals with sickle cell disease living in resource limited settings both as the Senior Health and Policy Advisor for Hematology at Partners In Health and a member of the sickle cell disease expert group for the NCDI poverty network.

Rasha Srouji DNP, CPNP, CNRN is a pediatric nurse practitioner working in the outpatient Neurology clinic at Boston Children's hospital. She has been the main provider for the urgent access clinic for the past nine years. She also works in the Movement disorder and procedural clinic. Prior to that she worked in Emergency Medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.  Rasha obtained her nursing degree at McGill University, her master's- NP at the University of Toronto/ Canada and her DNP at Simmons. She is passionate about health equality and access especially for pediatrics. As well as strengthening nursing education and onboarding. She currently serves on the board of the Association of Child Neurology Nurses. She is a first-year global health fellow and currently working on raising awareness and increasing access for neurodevelopmental screening and resources in Palestinian refugee camps. She is also involved in several educational initiatives addressing pre-hospital and trauma care in conflict zones. She has worked with several Global NGOs such as S.O.S, Red Crescent and Doctors without Borders.
