Global Cardiac Nursing Support in Kenya

Christine Placidi, a Global Nursing Fellow, traveled to Bomet, Kenya along with a BCH cardiac surgeon to conduct pediatric cardiac surgery on six children. While there, she also worked closely with their CICU nursing team to provide additional free educational materials and resources on the fundamentals of congenital heart disease. Via WhatsApp and OpenPediactrics, Christine remains in close contact with the Kenyan team and is able to be available to address any questions they have as well as provide real-time feedback. Through this partnership and global health experience, she is able to continuously assist the nurses in preparation to establish a self-sustained pediatric cardiac surgery program.
